Are you travelling with children?

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

It is safe to say that travelling with children is not easy. This is also true if not more so for someone who is taking children with them who are not thier own as it will add that extra bit of worry to you which you certainly do not need.
There are however just a few things to remember to do when taking a child away with you and this is very important advice indeed.

It is very important that you take with you a signed and attested consent letter from the parents for you to travel with the child, especially if the name of the child’s passport is different from yours. You are going to be asked for this in countries where overseas adoption and/or child trafficking is common. You should certainly not worry about this as it is there to stop crimes from being committed.
Another key point is to make sure that everyone has the correct visas as well as the all important vaccinations. The USA is very important as they do have tight control system. The vaccinations are for places like Egypt where you are a lot more likely to catch something as your immune system will not be used to the surroundings.

Make sure you have every little piece of informartion on the child given to you. For example any medication for any condition that the child may be suffering from. Although seeming to be very obvious it can often be forgotten about,. Allergy UK actually produces cards in 27 other languages so if something does go wrong you can at least alert the medical crew of what exactly is the problem.

What if something really bad was to happen to the child you are taking care of? Not panicing is key to this. If you do panic you will only end up making things a lot worse, just calm down and take a look at the situation.

Take care when you are taking a child away with you, you are responsible for them.

If you are going away make sure you have your I-pod covered with I-pod insurance or even if you are at home, home insurance as well as emergency home insurance can be very important as well.

Even the children need travel insurance

Even with the times in the way they are at the moment people are still having the time and money to go away which of course is certainly not a bad thing. A recent poll has suggested that nearly one in three people going away actually take a child with them, whether that is a child of their own, a grandchild or a family friend at just over 31% it is safe to say the credit crunch is certainly not affecting everyone.

A very worrying problem is that just over 20% of these people did not have insurance for thier child. Even the most responsible person in the world can not make sure 100% that the child they are looking after will not hurt themsleves in any way at all. Insurance can become important in places like America. As in America if you have insurance you are going to be seen before the people without it. This of course could really show its benefits to you if your child has a broken arm or something like that. For a child a waiting room is even worse than it is for an adult, espeically when they are in pain. What is quite remarkable is that 15% of these people did not even know whether the child was even covered by an insurance policy at all.

The costs for you having to pay out for the child you are looking after can be astronomical indeed.

The best advice is to really check to see if the child you are taking away with you has insurance. The cost is really not that great compared to what you will have to pay if someone happens abroad you your child requires medical attention.

Of course if you have insurance already for your child then why not get gadget insurance for something so that it can be covered over the summer months. It is also important to have home insurance as well as home emergency insurance to make sure that everything that could possibly go wrong with the home is actually covered.
