Gadget Insurance and Protection

Gadgets are just about everywhere now, but how safe are they from the various damages that your gadget can face? Many people spend hundreds of pounds on expensive gadgets, but do not then invest any cash in protecting their gadgets with a suitable insurance policy. It is possible to buy covers and cases, but is this enough?

 If you are considering taking a gadget away with you on holiday, the chances of damage to it clearly rises significantly. IF we consider the digital camera for example, a pricey ‘gadget’ that lots of people will take on their travels, without actually realising that if they were to break ort indeed lose it whilst away it would not be covered under most standard travel insurance policies.

Another significant risk to gadgets is that of liquid spillages, that can seriously damage even the sturdiest gadgets designed. A spilt beer or coffee over an iphone or camera would certainly render it non functional and you would subsequently lose the cost of the gadget in repair bills. We all know that liquids and gadgets do not go well together, but many of us have been in situation whereby we have almost spilt a drink over our gadgets.

Once you have identified the most suitable insurance company to go with, think about a number of things such as how you would like to pay for your policy. Some companies offer a pay monthly scheme which allows you to pay for your insurance by direct debt, each moth out of your bank account.  This can suit some people as it does not involve a large, up front payment and helps you spread the cost accordingly.

If you stay with some insurance companies you get good deals with them, such as no claim bonuses. This reward type system is mainly aimed at keeping you with the insurance company, but if you are given something for free it’s not too bad a thing to have. It is however still worth looking around online once your deal has come to the end to see what other deals there are out there for you to capitalise on.
